Cabinets Started!

I have certainly been procrastinating doing the cabinets and the kitchen... I'm really excited about it but it's a lot of work and to do it alone is a little sad. But! I do have a big step completed! I've taken the doors down! The hinges have a specific kind of screw in them so they have to be taken down with a screw driver by hand. Quite the feat really. Check out how they look all nakey!

I thought about doing open shelving and then I realized... None of my dishes are cute enough for that. lol.

Still quite a lot to do but I've got the first phase down! I'm trying to figure out something to do with the microwave... I love the idea of an in cabinet microwave but I'm not sure how that would work... hmmm...

I'm going to get the rest of the paint and everything this weekend so I will keep you posted on the progress!

Welcome 2012 Good Bye 2011

It's still hard to believe that 2011 is over! I felt like that year was never going to end. It was a crazy year in my little life, but I definitely have no regrets from last year. One of the greatest things that happened? I started my blog! So let's see what happened in The Messy Business house during the last year...

I redecorated the guest bathroom, updating the light fixtures, decor, vanity, and paint.

Tore out the ugly and weird vanity and replaced it with an IKEA shelf for more storage.

One of the biggest, and still probably my favorite remodel, Renovating the laundry room to make it actually a useful space!

Finally got a new rug for the living room from Target!

Another favorite project... the master bathroom!! Remember how awful it was before??

And now the beautiful after!

My friend Stephanie moved out of her old house and gave me all of her patio furniture. It just needed a little elbow grease and paint!

Turned out great don't you think?

The most recent project has been the master bedroom! It has also gotten a totally new face lift with the bathroom. It's such a great fun space now! I am totally in love with it!

We also figured out a way to dress up a cheap bookshelf. I will say that it looks great in my bedroom where my home office is also located.

Resolution: Get to it!

Happy 2012 everyone! Hope you had a great and fantastic New Year's whether you went out to party or just stayed in I hope it was awesome either way! Since it is a new year now it is that time when you start thinking of all the things you didn't do last year and decide what you really ought to do this year.

I have decided to make a blog/home Resolutions List. It'll be epic. Probably not but! It's got lots on it.

Let's get started...

1. Stop being lazy and get new double rods and blinds for my master bedroom.

2. Finish the kitchen redo...

3. Update all of the wall art and decor in the dining and living room since it's been the exact same for several years. I've got a few DIY ideas up my sleeve!

4. I'm going to be repainting the guest bathroom. I'm way over the baby boy  blue color in there. I do like the blue tone but it's going to get a tone down!

5. Install lighting of some sort onto the porch and put down new carpet. Maybe get some outdoor rugs for the concrete part of the patio!

6. Replace some of the old lighting in the bedrooms and in the dining room with updated version. Possibly DIY'd drum lights? Also paint the prison ceilings a nice flat white. That is going to be quite the project!

7. Fix the curtains in the bedroom that are too short and add double curtain rods to make it look pretty
