Pinterest Weekend Project

So I have become addicted to Pinterest in the last few days. Yay for Sam@ The Junk House sending me an invite! Love it.  But I saw a few projects on there that I decided I really wanted to try this weekend. (Some of them I actually swipped from Sam's pins. hheheheh)

First one that I want to do is this cool one for my kitchen. Instead of doing all of them on one frame I thought I could put one utensil in one frame... probably a 5"x7" frame. So I would end up with three of them maybe for above my kitchen window. It would be kind of cute! Plus at Goodwill utensils are only .15 cents a piece and frames at Salvation Army are at most a dollar. Nice and cheap project for sure!

Another project that my Mom is really helping me with is my bike pillow projects. You can do quick and easy iron-on transfers so instead of paying $30 for a pillow I can use the scrap fabric that I took to my Mom's forever ago. I believe it's like a linen or duck cloth sort of fabric that will look great with black bikes on the transfers. I'm excited!

This one is by far one of my favorites! I believe that I have figured out a perfect way to recreate this look without the huge price tag. I'll show you all the details on that tomorrow! I can't wait! It was a lot of fun to make.

Oh! And I also have some new developments on the bedroom to-do list that I'll be showing you very soon! So keep reading I'll get those posts up ASAP!

Yay!

Quick Bath Updates

Over the weekend of the first I had a new roommate move in. Her name is Jamie. She's super cute and I really like her. One thing that I like to do before a new roommate moves in is to prepare the spaces that will be theirs so that they feel more comfortable. So the bathroom was where I started first.
My previous roommate wasn't what I would call an avid deep cleaner so first I had to bleach the whole bath tub. Comet spray cleaner is great because it has bleach elements to it that really break down lime scale and soap scum. Straight Comet cleaner is great for the bottom of the bath tub.

I also did a bit of re-accessorizing. I've been moving things all around the house lately from one room to another. Soon it will change again because I've been getting the bathroom stuff out lately but! Here's what it looked like before:

I know you've all seen those pictures a million times but here's what it looks like after some updating:

I did originally want to repaint the bathroom to get rid of the blue color but I sort of ran out of time to get it all done. The accessories on the tiny shelves are the lanterns that usually go with my outdoor decorating but since the weather is getting colder I decided to bring them in and clean them up. I think they look fun on the shelves, I just need to get some candles for the inside of them so they don't look so empty.

I did add in a new hand soap dispenser with pretty swirls, of course in the turquoise shade that I love. I also filled this vintage Ball jar with cotton balls, useful and cute. And that jar with a cork I have had forever and ever.

Probably some of my favorite hand towels ever from Bed Bath and Beyond. I have an internal conflict with that foldy mirror above the hand towels. It provides 2 more shelves in the room which has proven useful especially when I had 2 roommates sharing that bathroom but now I think it just looks tacky. I would like to put another mirror or even another shelf or something up there instead because that thing just looks broken. For now I decided to leave it but don't be surprised if I have a post about tearing it out. lol.

I had taken the shower curtain down to wash it and put a fresh coat of spray paint on the curtain bar. Looks so much bigger! And now you can see all of the tile that we put in around it. It has definitely turned out quite nicely.

Hopefully my new roommate likes it as much as I do! Yay for decorating!

10 Bloggin Things

10 Blog Things I Gotta Do

  1. I desperately need to redo my blog header. I love the photos but they are totally blurry. My sister is a great photographer so I'm going to have her come over to help me find some photos that are more personalized to my house and what I do

2. I really need to work on my layout. I keep trying to add things and then forget where I put them on the sidebar which then gets all  kinds of screwy. The new blogger page is something that I'm trying to get used to. I hate messing with my template though. That always goes all crazy.

3. I need to update my blog buttons also. You can see that they still have my old URL instead of my new one. That and the there's no border to it which I think would be much cuter.

Photobucket

4. I need to be better about linking my blog up to all the great link parties out there. It really is fun to go through and see everyone else's projects and get inspiration. I miss out on that when I forget to do the link parties. Shame.

5.  I ought to invest in a better camera so that the photos I load onto my blog are better quality and don't have such an orange-hue. That could be the color of the walls though... who knows.

6.  Maybe copy Sam fromThe Junk House and do a blogroll page instead of the links in the side bar. Might make it look a bit more uniform which is always good I think.

7. I really would like  to get on Pinterest. But I guess you have to be invited.... I suppose it's like the VIP of crafting land or something. It sounds awfully exciting!

8. I think I need to take more photos and add more details on my blog about the projects I do, how much they cost, and where I got the idea for them.

9. I really just need to do my bathroom reveal at some point in the near future. lol.

10. I'm working on becoming more familiar with photo editors like Picnik and GIMP. Hopefully that way I can do better with side by side comparisons of photos and projects! I'm working on it! Also I really want to do some end of the month wrap ups.

Do you have any tips or suggestions for how I can improve my blog? What would make it more user friendly for you, the reader? This is only my 4th month blogging and I want to improve every month that I have this going! Thank you to everyone by the way!
