Sheety Chair

Now that summer is officially over for me I've been spending a little time (when I've managed to find it and NOT be asleep) to find some time reviewing my summer project list. There's still a bunch of things on that list I haven't quite gotten to. But! One thing one my list that I've been wanting to do forever is fix up this chair. I've had it for at least a year and a half and it has had the same uglio sheet covering it. That's not classy. Single ladies need to be classy.

Problem is that right now I can't really afford to get it reupholstered. I'd have to first get Lucyfurr declawed because she has been tearing up the chair and then pay for the fabric and find time to actually reupholster it. Which with my student teacher semester heating up is nearly impossible.

Total gag. Not a fan of it at all! The chair was free though and I love it's classic style. I think it's beautiful. What I decided to do was order some upholstery spray paint. Ever heard of it? I hadn't either until I started googling around for some other solutions to the chair issue I was having.

I found this on amazon.com for only $11! If nothing else it was totally cheap. I bought the navy blue color because I think it has the best chance of actually covering up the crazy floral pattern that covers the chair. It should be here later this week! I hope it works!

Insta-Monday

Today is a really exciting day for me! I've been waiting for this day for at least 5 years.

It's the first day of school! Allow me to clarify it is my first day of school as a student teacher. Yay! Success is mine! Well almost! I am nervous but mostly really excited. It's definitely been a rough change over in terms of schedule. I work Monday through Thursday 12pm to 11pm and had three day weekends. Now I'm switched over to teaching 7am to 3pm, working one night a week 4pm-11pm and then weekends 9am to 8pm. Phew. I've been losing track of myself lately!

Anyways if you've been following me on Instagram (@missmcds) then you have seen that I've been setting up my desk and classroom. Here's a few of my faves from last week:

I get my own desk and laptop! That may not seem that exciting but it's way more than I expected! I totally love it. I'm sure it's not going to look that organized again the rest of the semester. #studentteaching

And that is definitely the Little Mermaid on my pencil holder. Yup. My dog's name is Sebastian, noticing a theme?

My roommate, Erin, and I decided to spend our last weekend of summer having a great time. Biking is pretty big in CO so we biked around Colorado Wine Country (Palisade, Colorado) and went on a fun wine tour. The next day we biked around downtown Grand Junction and had fun hitting up the little shops. I look like a weirdo in the next picture but it was a lot of fun!

And Sebastian got a haircut! Look how handsome he is! #puppylove

He was quite fluffy before his haircut. The groomer said that he needs to be leash trained better, so that's something we're going to work on. He's only 4 months old and 6 and a half pounds. He's not much for taking on long leash walks yet. He will walk well with me but not anyone else, hopefully we can work on that also.If anyone has any tips! Let me know!

Planning a Big Move

As you all know I announced at the beginning of July that I was going to be making a big move out of Grand Junction, Colorado where I'm at currently. I graduate on December the 15th. Which will look like this on your calendar:

Feel free to mark the date. It is very exciting stuff. Less then 130 days away! But who is counting? Anyways! I've been trying to price out how much it would be to move to Arizona which is currently where my focus is located. The only thing is that I'm totally inexperienced with going about these things. Last time I moved my parents and I loaded up all the vehicles we owned and drove the half mile between their house and mine. Pretty easy stuff. But a 10 hour car trip plus the accumulated stuff that fills up a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house and full storage shed is going to take a bit more then that, and cost a whole lot more.

So I decided it was smarter to start anticipating costs now rather than getting my job in AZ and panicking because I have no idea what to do.

I should probably take my bed and clothes....

 

Couches are good to have...

 

Somewhere to eat lunch would be splendid also...

What I am getting at here is that I have a whole-lotta-stuff. Who would have thought that my possessions would quadruple in just a few years. Pricing out moving trucks has been interesting. To get from Grand Junction, Colorado to Phoenix, Arizona is gonna be #spendy. How spendy you ask?

Egads! I'd have to get a larger Uhaul and a tow thingy for my Honda. Wow. I think it'll be worth it in the end but damn. This growing up thing is all new to me! Anyone have any tips or advice on making such a big move? Ways to save time and money?
