Wall-e

I've been working on updating my house in terms of the decor recently. Some of the rooms that haven't changed at all are my dining room and living room. So we're making things fancy huh!

This is what the entry wall looked like before... for a very, very long time!

 

And here's what it looks like now! Bought an antique vanity table, put up a mirror, hung up my cork art and some local bike art. I feel like it looks much, much better! Plus we added a little key hook for the doggy things.

 

 And here's a closer look. I have some plans for some more art work that I want to put up but at this point I think it looks pretty snazzylicious. I found the painting on the far upper right at a local winery. It's of a bike! And it's totally amazing.

 

I'm also starting to do the same thing in the dining room. I have had this cute Pier 1 mirror up for the last four years. It's cute but not very adventurous.

So the first step was getting a new mirror! Found this one in South Dakota for only ten dollars. Sure it's not much yet but it's definitely a move in the right direction in terms of updating the look. :)

Not Everything is Curtain

When I went to South Dakota at the beginning of the month I had the fabulous luxury of being able to go to the brand new IKEA in Denver, Colorado on our way back home! I love me some IKEA. That's for sure. I was only able to get a few things while I was there but one of them was a new set of curtains for my closet doors. Andddd they were on sale for $9.99!

Bargain.

 

 I just rolled em right on out of their package and I was really grateful that they had a thicker rod pocket part then the ones that I had boughten previously (they are currently in my roommates rooms).

 

 

 
Yup. Those are shoes on my bed. It happens. They also sell little clips with hooks for hanging curtains. It is $3.99 for a pack of the hooks. I spaced them out on each of the curtain panels and hooked them up to the track that the big ole doors were originally on. Zero construction required on this one.

So my bedroom went from looking like this....

 

To looking like this! yayyy! No more crazy exposed closet! I still have some cleaning to do but it looks way better, plus it has halted Sebastian from running off with my shoes. He doesn't chew on them he just runs around and makes little stacks of stuff. 

 



 

So for $15.00 I have new doors for my closet that are totally luxurious and cute. I can paint them (seeing as my upholstery paint idea was a bust... more because of the color than the application itself.) Or perhaps stencil them? Either way for now they are covering up the closet and looking good!

Insta-Monday

Over Labor Day weekend I had the fabulous opportunity to go to South Dakota to visit my amazing family. It was the first time since I was 17 or 18 that I've gotten to see a lot of my extended family. I took a few Insta pictures while I was there and just thought I would share them with you.

We went up to Lake Poinsett where my Uncle has a cabin right on the water. Little dock and all.

I got on the boat! Which is amazing because I generally hate water.

My Grandma's house is full of cool antiques, like this 1940's original phone. It's super cool and was fun to hear her tell me stories about her parent's getting their first phone and listening to the calls.

I also found this picture of me when I was just a baby toddler in my Grandma's collection of photos. My Mom got me hooked on clothes at an early age. Check out those lace leggings!

They also had these awesome little baby wine things at the store. They were super cute! And the wine was actually pretty good... My Uncle told me that in South Dakota they don't have the outdoor stuff (trails, mountain biking, rock climbing, etc) like we do here in Colorado so they have to make up drinking games to stay entertained.

It was a really fun trip and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to go and be with my family. Yay!

Graduation Pictures: Stephotography

My blog posting-ness has been horribly lacking the last couple weeks, that mostly has to do with this whole teaching thing as well as the fact I went on vacation last weekend. (First one I've been on since I was 18! And it was awesome by the way.)

One thing I did do for myself though was have my photographer friend Stephanie do some fantastic pictures for me. You can see more of her work on her Facebook page {Stephotography} she does an amazing job! In fact she's done all of my pictures since I was 18. Check her out. :)

I wanted to do some pictures that really represented where I was at in my life at this point. Single, 22, childless, and starting my career. Some of the pictures didn't upload very well but you can see them all on my blog Facebook page {here}. I think they're rather snazzy myself.

 

 

 

 

 

Oh! And I just got my upholstery spray paint in the mail so I'm looking forward to getting after that tonight or tomorrow! Fingers crossed for a pretty new chair.
